Become a Pom in Paradise in Birmingham!
For anyone dreaming of a new life in Australia or New Zealand, and a job in one of the world’s most vibrant economies, a must-attend event is coming to Birmingham.
Down Under Live!, the UK’s biggest event for migration to Australia and New Zealand will be returning to Birmingham’s National Motorcycle Museum on the 24th and 25th September.
With over 158,000 emigrating from the UK Â to Australia in 2008, and hundreds of thousands more visiting for holidays, both Australia and New Zealand remain iconic destinations for Britons. The attraction of warmer weather, stunning scenery and improved job prospects are all major factors in making the move down under, but it is the outdoor lifestyle and quality of life that attracts most UK migrants.
Down Under Live! will have jobs, advice and help for anyone in the West Midlands looking for advice and information about moving to Australasia . Australia has one of the strongest economies in the developed world and an unemployment rate that is half that of the West Midlands.
The centrepiece of the show is a dedicated migration seminar programme, where visitors to the show can hear from recognised migration experts on every aspect of migrating. Topics covered include the visa process, how to avoid paying too much to have your goods shipped overseas and specialist areas such as healthcare and schooling.
The Government of Western Australia will be on hand to discuss job opportunities, and highlight the best that their state has to offer migrants from the UK. Jobseekers will also be able to talk to recruitment specialists about vacancies in Australia and New Zealand and the show aims to tap into the wealth of resource on offer in the West Midlands.
As an added attraction, Michael Ward, star of TV’s “Poms In Paradise†programme will be at Down Under Live, where visitors will have the opportunity to talk to him about his new life in Australia and how he made the move from the UK.
The event’s director, John Weir  comments “ We’re delighted to be bringing Down Under Live! back  to Birmingham. We know that the region is home to thousands of skilled professionals, whose skills are coveted in both Australia and New Zealand. This event will make many people’s dreams a reality and give them the tools they need to make the move down under.â€
The show runs from the 24th to the 25th September 2009 and tickets cost from just £10 per person. Under 16’s are admitted free. Further information is available on the show website – www.downunderlive.co.uk
