Follow in Harry and Meghans footsteps on Fraser Island

t’s official, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are coming to Australia in late October and will be visiting the beautiful Fraser Island. With this recent announcment, here is our top selection of Fraser Island activities fellow travellers can experience on this beautiful island, following in the footsteps of the Royal couple.

Jet Ski hire from Aquavue

Sometimes the best views of Fraser Island are from the water where visitors can see the island in all its glory. Aquavue Cafe Watersports is located on the beautiful beach front at Torquay and is the premier Cafe and Watersport hire destination in Hervey Bay, Queensland. Jet-ski from Aquavue and power up the Great Sandy Straight. With water this clear, you’ll have no trouble seeing some of the locals – turtles, stingrays and dolphins.

Tasman Venture Catamaran Tour

Get off the beaten track without the confines of a 4WD with Tasman Venture, a 20-metre catamaran taking remote Fraser Island tours. Guests will be one of only a few people who go to the rugged wilderness of the west side of the island, with its endless white sand and fringing forests. Once anchored, ramp up the adventure with SUPing, kayaking and swimming in the clear creeks. Guests will find this tour has a slower pace and will certainly come home with photos that other people didn’t take during their time on Fraser

Compas Helicopter Scenic Flight

For the ultimate James Bond experience, join Compass Helicopters for a scenic flight over the island. Departing from Hervey Bay Airport, guests will fly over the Fraser Coast and the entire 120-kilometre length of the island. In whale season, visitors can even see humpback whales on their annual migration from above. If you find one day just isn’t enough to sate your Fraser Island cravings, why not maroon yourself for a few more days and check into Kingfisher Bay Resort or Eurong Beach Resort and book in for another tour on day two.

Segway Tour

Swap your four wheel drive for two wheel drive and give Segways a go on Fraser Island. Catch the ferry across to Kingfisher Bay, hire a Segway from the jetty and make tracks down the Eastern Beach. Once your land legs start getting tired, swap them for sea legs by hiring a canoe from the jetty hut and explore the Great Sandy Straight from the water.
