The Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) have released the new Skilled Occupations List (SOL) for 2016-17.

These changes relate to the following visa subclasses and for invitations issued on or after 1 July 2016:

Subclass 186
Subclass 189
Subclass 190
Subclass 402
Subclass 457
Subclass 485
Subclass 489

John Adams of Immigration2Oz comments “There has been much talk on forums etc. about a long list occupations, including accountants and ICT specialisations being “taken off the list”. This short list of changes is therefore not that dramatic. Although the effective date is 1 July 2016 there is little hope of beating the deadline unless an applicant already has a skill assessment, meets the points test pass mark, can lodge an Expression of Interest – and receive an Invitation to Apply, before the deadline.”
