Darwin the easiest place in Australia to get jobs
Looking for a job in Australia ? New research says that you should head to Darwin, as the city now has more vacancies than unemployment.
Research by Adzuna shows that construction and finance are the top hiring sectors in the country with over 130,000 jobs advertised so-far this year.Brisbane and Sydney joined Darwin as the top three locations for job seekers.
But Darwin and Perth are the choice location for construction workers seeking cash with jobs paying almost 20 per cent more than the national average. The average wage is Darwin is $92,144 compared to a national average of $77,711, the survey said.
But regional cities are doing it tough with Bendigo the hardest city in the country to find work with 32 applicants for every vacancy.Shepparton, Wagga Wagga and Port Macquarie are also rated as employment black spots with more than 20 people applying for each job advertised.
It also shows wages are falling in some of the regional centres with salary packages in Hornsby, Mornington and Bendigo around 60 per cent below similar roles in the major cities.
The research from jobs website Adzuna compared employment positions advertised against the local unemployment register.
The research shows that Melbourne leads the way for hospitality recruitment, Alice Springs for teaching jobs and Sydney for IT and sales positions.
Adzuna co-founder Andrew Hunter said jobseekers need to look at the data and target their efforts in the parts of Australia where they have the best chance of finding work.
