500 jobs created in Sydney
One of Australiaâ€™s largest defence contractors, Thales, will establish a new headquarters in Sydney,Â creating around 500 jobs.
The company will move its headquarters to a new location in Sydney, while continuing to service ships at Garden Island. â€œThales Australia is a key player in the nationâ€™s defence sector and delivers advanced engineering, network and simulation solutions to defence, civil and export customers,â€ Trade and Investment Minister Andrew Stoner said. â€œThe Thales Australia headquarters is a major operation employing close to 500 people across functions including senior management, tender bid management, project engineering and management, research and development, training, simulation, sales and marketing, and professional services and administration.
â€œThales Australia will relocate its headquarters operations, currently located at Garden Island, to a new Sydney location but will continue to use Garden Island as a primary ship repair and maintenance base. The NSW Government has stepped in to work with Thales to secure its ongoing commitment to Sydney.”
